Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies wins the Innovation Radar Prize 2020

The Innovation Radar Prize is awarded by the European Commission to the best innovations from EU-funded projects in the following three prize categories “Women-led innovation”, “Tech for Society” and “Innovative Science”. Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies won the prize in the category “Tech for society”. This category honors technologies that have a positive impact on society and its citizens.

With this award, Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies once again proves that the LOHC technology is an innovation with great added value for society, as it enables the safe, efficient and easy hydrogen transport and storage.

The Innovation Radar, an initiative of the European Commission, selected the finalists from a large number of EU-funded research and innovation projects and invited the finalists to present their innovations to an expert jury in the final round.

Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies convinced the jury with its concept for hydrogen storage and hydrogen transport. By chemically bonding the hydrogen to liquid organic hydrogen carriers (short: LOHC), hydrogen can be easily and safely transported from energy sources to sites with a need for renewable energy within the existing fuel infrastructure.

Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies presented the EU-funded HySTOC–project to the expert jury. This project demonstrates the LOHC-based distribution of hydrogen to a commercially operated hydrogen refueling station in Finland. With this key technology, Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies can make a significant contribution to the decarobinization of the mobility sector by enabling an environmentally friendly and efficient distribution of green hydrogen.

Besides Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies, the Spanish company Appenta received the award in the category “Innovative Science”. SDS Optics convinced the expert jury in the category “Women-led innovation”. Wrocław University of Science and Technology was the overall winner.
